Butte County Cal Fire Captain Jake Gilliam says they aim to inspect around 10,000 properties in Butte County within 2024. These defensible space inspections are official visits conducted by Butte County fire safety experts, intended to make sure your home and property comply with the required wildfire prevention measures. These visits are also required by law. Homeowners up on the ridge can expect a possible visit from Cal Fire, as we inch closer to fire season, Cal Fire is working to assist fire-prone areas. “We have eight defensible space inspectors, in the Magalia area and also the Concow and Yankee Hill area, going door to door proactively educating homeowners on how to get defensible space,” said Gilliam.
