VIDEO: An investigation is underway after a plane crashed in a northern Arizona neighborhood early Sunday morning. According to the Verde Valley Fire District, firefighters responded to a report of a small plane crash-landing on Spur Drive in Cottonwood Sunday Morning. The FAA says the single-engine Mooney M20F went down around 9 a.m. Firefighters from both Verde Valley and Cottonwood worked to rescue the pilot out of the plane. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies say the pilot was flown to a Phoenix-area hospital and is in stable condition. No one else was onboard the plane when it crashed. No one inside the home or on the ground was injured. The plane damaged a detached carport but did not hit the home, deputies confirmed. Marilyn Benkendorf lives at the home where the carport was damaged.
