A Tucson woman died in a house fire in the Pinetop area early Monday, Oct. 7. The Navajo County Sheriff’s Office said the fire happened in the 3400 block of Blacksmith Trail around 1 a.m. The NCSO said first responders arrived at 1:17 a.m., found the home fully engulfed in flames, and were not able to go inside. Authorities said 79-year-old Linda Mason was unable to get out of the burning home and was found dead inside. William Mason, also of Tucson, was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene and released. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Pinetop Fire and the Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Mrs. Mason,” Navajo County Sheriff David M. Clouse said.
