Multiple people are in the hospital after they were reportedly run over while riding bikes near the Arizona State University Tempe campus on Sunday morning.
Around 7:45 a.m., Tempe police officers and firefighters were called to the area of 15th Street and College Avenue for reports of a crash involving a vehicle and a group of bicyclists.
Tempe Fire says that a small SUV reportedly ran over five bicyclists in the area.
Three people have been taken to the hospital in serious condition, but they are expected to survive. Tempe police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. “It’s scary, but unfortunately I hear about it all too often so I’m not surprised. It’s happened close to me,” said Alex, who bikes College Avenue often but was not involved in this accident.
