VIDEO: A Phoenix fire task force is headed to New Mexico to assist in fighting wildfires that have ravaged an area of the state. Fifty-one members of Arizona Task Force 1 will join the battle against two wildfires that have killed two people, destroyed hundreds of homes and forced thousands to flee. AZ-TF1 is one of 28 Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) task forces in the U.S. Its mission is to be prepared for activation and response to urban search and rescue on both a local and national level. President Joe Biden has issued a disaster declaration for parts of southern New Mexico, freeing up funding and more resources as crews worked to keep the flames from spreading. Their efforts have gotten a boost from a storm system that brought with it rain, hail and cooler temperatures to the mountain village of Ruidoso and other parts of the state.
