VIDEO: Firefighters quickly extinguished a fast-moving debris fire that destroyed a single mobile home and ignited palm trees on Wednesday afternoon.
Multiple people called 911 after seeing smoke and fire near 7th Street and Southern Avenue around 11 a.m. Firefighters say the blaze started in a large debris field filled with old wooden sheds and some construction equipment.
Crews extended hose lines to surround the fire and protect homes. However, winds pushed the flames, causing them to consume one home, several large palm trees, and nearby brush.
According to Phoenix Fire, various pieces of construction equipment and sheds provided fuel for the fire.
Arizona’s Family news chopper witnessed several palm trees up in flames while animals were spotted running away from the blaze.
