Fire crews are in Pinal County battling the Circle Fire, which is burning southwest of the town of Kearny, according to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management. DFFM said the Circle Fire has burned 2,800 acres in an area 14 miles southwest of Kearny near the base of Antelope Peak. The fire is burning in grass and brush northeast of the Freeman Fire, which burned last week and is now 100% contained. On Saturday, crews were able to secure the south edge of the fire, which is at the base of Antelope Peak. Gusty, erratic winds that reached as high as 50 miles per hour on Saturday night caused the flames to change direction and turn 180 degrees and move east. Two bulldozers then worked on the east side of the fire to widen a two-track road and begin to establish a containment line.
