VIDEO: Hundreds of people were without power after two houses caught fire in the Mesa area due to downed power lines on Thursday evening. Firefighters with Rural Metro Fire Department say high winds and possibly overgrown trees knocked the power lines over in the area of University Drive and Crismon Road just after 4 p.m. Fire investigators believe the blaze began at one home and spread to another. One house was destroyed, while the other suffered significant damage. Firefighters say a woman was treated for heat exhaustion but didn’t have to go to the hospital. No firefighters were hurt. An investigation is underway.
