VIDEO/PHOTOS: A historic motel in Tucson caught fire late Thursday, Feb. 22. A 13 News photographer on the scene said the main building for the old Spanish Trail Motel, located near South Fourth Avenue and Interstate 10, was fully engulfed in flames. 13 News has reached out to the Tucson Police Department, South Tucson Police Department, and the Tucson Fire Department for more information. The main building for the motel has been closed for years, but the hollowed-out iconic sign still greets people driving in the area. It appears the fire did not damage the Spanish Trail Apartments, which is a complex just west of the burned building. The owners of that complex were recently sued by the City of South Tucson over crime.
