PHOTO: On May 27, 2023, at 5:15pm Northern Arizona Fire District was dispatched to the area of East Calle Alamo & N Avenida Ramirez for a report of a large vegetation fire.
First responding NAFD units were 2 Engines, and Battalion Chief additional resources that responded after first units arrived on scene were a Water tender and Rehab unit from NAFD. With assistance from Pinion Pines Fire Department Type 3 Engine and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) who responded 2 of their type 6 engines and one overhead spotter.
Units were dispatched to the area for a vegetation fire in the area once units arrived, they located a 1arge fire burning on a hill. The fire was actively spreading to heavier fuel of grass and brush.
Fire crews deployed and started cutting handlines to stop the forward progress of the fire while additional resources started extinguishing the fire.
