PHOTOS: Four people were injured, two of them critically, in a car wreck Sunday afternoon. It happened northeast of 40th Street and Broadway Road. Few details were immediately available, but the Phoenix Fire Department said two people were thrown out of their vehicles. Capt. Scott Douglas said there were children at the scene when firefighters arrived, but they were not hurt. Douglas said a man and a woman were in critical condition when they were taken to the hospital. The other two adults reportedly were in stable condition. Video from the scene showed two mangled cars, one on either side of the street and facing opposite directions. The driver-side airbag deployed in one of them. That car also had a demolished windshield. The other vehicle had a logo for Community Bridges, Inc. on its passenger side. Investigators are working to piece together the moments leading up to the crash.
