The Phoenix Fire Department was called on Sunday to a mountain rescue on Papago Butte in Scottsdale.
Firefighters from Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe all responded to the scene of an adult female who suffered an injury to a lower extremity on the mountain, according to a release. “The patient was extricated from the trail by fire personnel and transported to a local hospital via ambulance for further evaluation,” Phoenix Fire Department captain Kenny Overton said in the release. No firefighters were injured during the rescue. The fire department reminded hikers in a tweet to wear appropriate hiking gear, bring plenty of water and bring a fully charged cellphone for those who are taking to the trails.
