Higginson's community building is being renamed the William E. Bogan Community Center by the Higginson City Council to honor the town’s retired fire chief who died recently. “I don’t know how many of you know it, but one of my good friends, the town’s good friends, good friends to everybody in town — Earle Bogan — passed away last week,” Mayor Randell Homsley said at Higginson’s council meeting Monday. William Bogan, known as Earle to friends, died Sept. 26, one month shy of his 75th birthday. According to his obituary, “Earle worked at Ford Motor Co. in Lorain [Ohio] and the Vermilion Fire Department from 1965 until 1991. With his wife, he moved to Higginson, Ark., and he then joined the Higginson Fire Department from 1993 until 2011.” “Earle was a big asset to this community," Homsley said.
