Hundreds of thousands of dollars from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are coming to first responders in east Alabama. U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, who represents east Alabama in the state’s 3rd Congressional District, announced the funding Wednesday. “I am proud to announce over $915,000 in federal money is coming to first responders in Alabama’s Third Congressional District,” said Rogers in a press release. “This funding will bring our community’s firefighters essential supplies to perform their duties and ensure their safety.” The grant comes from Homeland Security’s FY 2023 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. Rogers said the money will go directly to local fire departments to enhance the safety of first responders and the communities they serve.
