Fire swept through a west Birmingham home Tuesday morning, leaving one man dead. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service responded about 11:40 a.m. to the house at 1603 Pleasant Grove Road in the Dolomite area. Capt. Bryan Harrell said the residence was fully involved when they arrived. Firefighters found an elderly man unresponsive inside the living room. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Harrell said the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, but no foul play is suspected.
