VIDEO: A driver smashed into an Albuquerque Fire Rescue truck in July. The crash happened as the fire truck was responding to a different crash in the Northeast Heights. The crash was caused by a driver officials say had been drinking earlier that night, and it left the fire truck out of service. Luckily no one was injured, but the video shows just how much damage was caused by the crash. The incident happened close to 8:20 p.m. on July 1, as AFR was responding to a different crash on Tramway and Montgomery. AFR crew members were just feet away from the truck when it was hit. Witnesses and police said the driver who crashed into the fire truck was driving at a high speed. Adding, the driver didn’t even try to slow down.
