Just after midnight, crews from Gresham Fire responded to a fire in the 2400 block of Southwest 1st Street, near Southwest Mawrcrest Avenue. Gresham Fire says the fire started in the garage and quickly spread to the house, along with a few vehicles that were outside of the garage.
One of the homeowners woke up to the smoke alarms going off and found the fire in the garage. The homeowner was able to evacuate himself and pets. No injuries were reported. “Shocking, absolutely shocking. All I could think about is, is somebody being hurt,” said Marylou Spicer.
Spicer told FOX 12 that she woke up Monday morning to find her neighbors home charred and boarded up.
