Multiple firefighters were hurt after a roof collapsed while they were battling a three-alarm house fire at a Mesa home on Monday afternoon. Around 1 p.m., Mesa firefighters were called to a barbeque fire that had spread to the attic of a home on Downing Circle, just north of University Drive and Greenfield Road. Mesa Fire says 10 firefighters were in the master bedroom when the roof collapsed and escaped through a window. The 911 caller reportedly had evacuated with their dog as the fire quickly spread. Firefighters then went defensive and attacked the blaze. Two firefighters had minor burn injuries. A third firefighter was taken to the hospital with a back injury. No other injuries were reported.
