Man arrested after shooting at fire, EMS officials & stealing fire vehicle in North Carolina

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man after he fired shots at fire and EMS officials and then fled from the scene in a fire vehicle. Officials state around 11:45 a.m. Rowan County emergency services and Atwell Fire Department responded to Shinn Farm Road and Hwy. 152 in regards to an unconscious male sitting in a vehicle. When they arrived on scene it did not appear the male needed medical attention and could possibly be impaired. They contacted North Carolina State Highway Patrol and while waiting for highway patrol to arrive on scene, the male produced a handgun and began shooting at fire and EMS. Officials state that one Rowan County paramedic sustained an arm injury from a fall while seeking cover. The sheriff’s office stated that the male, identified as Miguel Angel Perez Ramirez, got into a fire pickup truck and drove erratically.
