VIDEO: A small plane made an emergency crash landing on the golf course at Haggin Oaks on Sunday, coming to rest at the pro shop, the Sacramento Fire Department said. The pilot walked away with a minor cut to his hand. No one else was hurt.
The Sacramento Fire Department said it responded to a report of a plane crashing into a building at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex after 1 p.m. Capt. Justin Sylvia with Sac Fire said the pilot had just taken off from McClellan Airfield.
At about 400 feet altitude, the pilot's engine shut down and he had to look for a safe place to land. The pilot saw the golf course and brought it down with a belly landing. The plane skidded off grass, into pavement and then came to rest against the pro shop. "He knew that he was not going to make it back to the airport," Sylvia said.
