A 1947 Dodge pumper truck belonged to the Chaumont Volunteer Fire Department decades ago but in the 90s, it disappeared after the shop where it was being worked on closed.
Fast forward 30 years and a lucky scroll through the social media platform’s shop turned up the 77-year-old missing truck.
Through donations, the department raised $6,000 and was able to bring the pumper home. “It’s part of our history, and so to be able to go and get a part of history back, it’s pretty awesome,” said Chaumont Fire Chief Will Lipczynski. “The nice thing about these trucks is that it was built when vehicles were made to last. It does have some surface rust, but no major rust on it.”
The fire department says it plans to restore the pumper truck.
