VIDEO/PHOTOS: A Prince George's County fire station was damaged after an ambulance caught fire early Sunday morning, the agency said. "We do have our share of fires in Prince George’s County, but running a fire within one of our own fire stations is very unique," Department Public Information Director Alan Doubleday said. "It doesn’t happen very often." According to Doubleday, it's believed the fire started in the engine compartment of the ambulance--which is a total loss. "The ambulance did burn with so much intensity, that it scorched the side of Rescue Squad 20," Doubleday said. At 5:12 a.m., smoke alarms alerted eight firefighters at the Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department at 14915 Pratt Street station in Upper Marlboro. The ambulance was parked in the engine bay at the time the fire broke out, officials said.
