Vernonia Rural Fire Protection District (VRFPD) is creating an eligibility/hiring list for potential multiple job openings, One immediately and Possible additional in the near future. VRFPD is a combination department consisting of 1 chief, 1 administrator, 3 career officers, 4 part-time firefighters, and numerous volunteers.

POSITION TITLE: Shift Officer / Lieutenant
Pay $22.00- 24.50 DOE
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Shift Officers / Lieutenants, direct the activities of EMS and firefighting personnel, and provide training to all staff volunteer and career during a 1/3/2/3 shift schedule. Duties include responsibility for personnel on a daily shift, apparatus, equipment, and facilities. Directs and participates in extinguishing and preventing fires, provides emergency medical services, training, public fire education, fire prevention activities, and apparatus and facilities maintenance. Participates in the training and instruction of district members in the methods of lifesaving and firefighting; oversees the daily activities (emergency and non-emergency) of assigned district members; maintains readiness and proficiency levels as required by the department; acts within established department guidelines and regulations. Works in conjunction with the Chief to develop and coordinate safe operation and community relations.
Minimum Requirements:
· State of Oregon EMT Certification
· DPSST accreditation as NFPA Firefighter I
· DPSST accreditation as NFPA Fire Apparatus with a Pump
· FEMA Incident Safety (I.S) 100, 200, 700, 800, (300 & 400 preferred)
Desired Certification:
· EMT Paramedic
· DPSST accreditation as NFPA Firefighter II
· DPSST accreditation as NFPA Fire Officer I
· DPSST accreditation as NFPA Instructor I
· DPSST accreditation as NFPA Instructor II
· Hazardous Materials awareness/operations
· Certified as Hazardous Materials On Scene Incident Commander
· Wildland Engine Boss, preferred Strike Team Leader
· Incident Safety Officer
