The Northbrook and Winnetka, IL Fire Departments are recruiting for entry-level firefighter paramedics. To apply, candidates must purchase and complete an application at https://iosolutions.com/ and submit all supporting documentation to I/O Solutions by 4:00 PM on May 1, 2024.
Candidates must attend the mandatory orientation and written examination currently scheduled for Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, IL. Specific testing details will be provided to eligible candidates prior to the exam date.
Northbrook’s Firefighter Paramedic Salary Range: $77,302 - $121,887. Winnetka Salary Range: $85,137 - $116,232.
Northbrook Minimum Requirements:
- U.S. citizen or meet the requirements of the Illinois Human Rights Act for citizenship status
- Must be 20 years and 6 months and, except as otherwise provided by law, be under 35 years of age at date or examination. Must be 21 years of age at time of hire.
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have one of the following: 1) Associate’s degree or at least 60 semester credit hours from an accredited college/university, 2) State of IL licensed Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (IDPH EMT-P), or 3) State of IL Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (IDPH EMT-B) and IL Office of the State Fire Marshal Firefighter II/Basic Operations Firefighter certification
- Vision correctable to 20/40, normal peripheral vision and able to distinguish colors
- Must have a valid CPAT and Ladder Climb Certification by time of conditional offer of employment
Winnetka Minimum Requirements:
- Proof of legal authorization to work in the United States at date of hire
- Must have passed 21st birthday and, except as otherwise provided by law, be under 35 years of age at date of exam. The maximum age does not apply to anyone who has previously been employed as a firefighter or who has turned 35 while serving as a member of the military with honorable service under the age of 40
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Far vision correctable to 20/40, normal peripheral vision, and able to distinguish colors
- Must have a valid CPAT and Ladder Climb Certification within 6 months prior to test date (6/1/2024)
