DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
The Brookfield Fire Department provides fire prevention, fire suppression, rescue, special unit response, and emergency medical services. The Department is an active member of MABAS Division 10 and a near-west suburb of Chicago.
The Village of Brookfield services approximately a four square-mile jurisdiction located in Cook County, Illinois. It operates out of two stations, serving a residential population of approximately 19,475, protecting a mix of residential, light industrial/commercial developments, Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) commuter, Amtrak, and freight lines, as well as the world-famous Brookfield Zoo. The Department employs 24 sworn Firefighter/Paramedics and an appointed Fire Chief, who responded to approximately 2,800 emergency incidents in 2023.
