Gresham Firefighter Spencer Tejedas was injured at a residential house fire on May 30th. He received burns over 45+% of his body with 3rd degree being 40%. As he reaches 7 weeks in ICU, he has had 4 surgeries with more to come, and has received more than 70 units of Blood so far.
We think of blood donations going to Trauma and Cancer patients, and understand it is frequently used in surgeries. We do not normally associate it with burn victims. Summer is also the slowest time of the year for donations.
In Honor of Firefighter Spencer Tejedas, we are holding a blood drive on Friday, August 2nd in the Gresham City Hall Conference Center.
