Willard Peak Fire burns over 750 acres, crews face critical fire weather on steep terrain

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Nearly 150 evacuation orders remain in place as the Willard Peak Fire burns out of control. As of Thursday morning, the fire was mapped at 754 acres with 0% containment. No structures have been lost, according to Utah Fire Info. Crews held their ground overnight, but critical fire weather is anticipated for Thursday. Additional hand crews were ordered to work the steep and rugged terrain. “Please follow all evacuation orders and give firefighters room to work,” Utah Fire Info said. The North Ogden Divide opened Thursday morning for normal traffic. Because the fire is still active, the Weber County Sheriff’s Office asked the public to stay off hiking trails in the area. The Northern Utah Type 3 Incident Management Team assumed command.
