The Wyoming Highway Patrol says driver inattention may be to blame for a fiery crash on Interstate 80 that left one person dead, and two others injured. The crash happened around 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, near mile marker 274, just east of Arlington. According to a fatality crash summary, a Freightliner combination unit was parked in the emergency lane when an eastbound Volvo combination unit rear-ended it, causing the Freightliner to roll onto its passenger side. The Volvo then continued past the Freightliner before going off the right-hand side of the interstate and catching fire. The crash left both semi drivers injured and a passenger, 55-year-old Missouri resident Ralph Pimentel III, dead. It’s unknown if Pimentel was wearing a seat belt.
