West Bend FD presents plans for new fire station to Common Council

PHOTOS: Representatives from the West Bend Fire Department (WBFD), Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. (SEH) and CD Smith were brought in as guests to Mondayโ€™s West Bend Common Council meeting to present current design plans for the departmentโ€™s proposed new fire station.

There are several reasons for the project, including the age of the building, according to the city, including the state of the current Fire Station #1โ€™s HVAC system and the ability to provide better response times for a greater area of the departmentโ€™s coverage area. WBFD Chief Les Norin noted at the meeting that discussions regarding the necessity of upgrades from the current facility have been underway since 2023, even before Norin was brought in as chief. “This is a critical need project for the city of West Bend,” Norin said. “After all that time, weโ€™ve finally come to the point where we have what we believe is a good vision for a fire station that will help serve the city of West Bend for the next 70 years.”
