No injuries reported after partial roof collapse at Madison grocery store

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Engineers and contractors have been busy assessing the damage at Woodman’s grocery store on the east side of Madison after a partial roof collapse Monday night caused by heavy rains in the area.

Crews from the Madison Fire Department were called to the store on Milwaukee Street at 8:42 p.m. A caller stated there were broken beams and flooding in the store, as well as a smell of smoke. All customers and employees were evacuated from the building at that time. MFD crews were cleared from the call at 11:15 p.m. MFD HURT, along with the City of Madison Building Inspection team confirmed the roof collapse was the result of accumulated storm water, according to MFD spokesperson Cynthia Schuster.
