Madison-area firefighters practice skills in training burns

VIDEO: Madison-area firefighters honed in their skills Wednesday during a series of live burn trainings in an eastside home. As part of the two-day training, crews trained as small fires burned inside of a two-story home on the 3400 block of Milwaukee Street.

This home, and another that was used Thursday on the 3500 block of Milwaukee Street, were the site of the old Voit Farm. The site was donated to Madison Fire Department to be used for destructive training before the property is redeveloped.

Firefighters from Madison, Sun Prairie and McFarland participated in the drills. Lt. Bradley Olson of the Madison Fire Departmentโ€™s Fire Training Division said the exercises provide mentoring opportunities.
