Thirty-seven firefighters from six different agencies battled a structure fire in Warrens that started from a lightning strike early Friday morning. The Warrens Area Fire District says at 2 a.m. crews were called to the scene at 23879 Aspen Avenue — the site of Warrens Cold Storage and the American Berry Company. The back half of the building was reportedly engulfed in flames with concern about one person still inside at the time. The cold storage building was “heavily involved” when crews arrived, the fire district said. Firefighters worked to evacuate the building while starting fire suppression. Concerns arose over the presence of anhydrous ammonia in a room directly below the fire. Crews were able to prevent fire from spreading to those hazardous areas.
