One individual was taken to a hospital following a fire at a plastic fabrication company in Oconto. Around 9:08 a.m. Wednesday, the Oconto Fire & Rescue Department responded to 119 Mott Street for a water flow alarm at LeTourneau Plastic, Inc.
Dispatch advised first responders there was a fire in a machine that had been put out. Employees reported they were preparing to extinguish the fire just as the sprinkler system activated, quenching the blaze. All of the building’s occupants evacuated prior to the arrival of firefighters. Crews entered the building and confirmed the fire was completely extinguished. They also located the sprinkler stand pipe and shut the valve, preventing further water damage. No fire personnel were injured. One of the building’s occupants was transported to a local hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
