Wyoming wildfire that forced evacuations contained by crews

PHOTOS: A wildfire off Interstate 80 in Laramie on Monday afternoon prompted evacuations and a coordinated response from over half a dozen fire and emergency agencies.

Crews battled the fire to 100% containment shortly after midnight, according to a release from the City of Laramie Fire Department on Tuesday morning.

The fire ultimately grew to about 56 acres, and the cause remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.

โ€œCrews remain on scene today monitoring and extinguishing a large haystack that continues to smolder within the containment area,โ€ the release said. โ€œCommunity members traveling in the area may continue to see smoke throughout the day as firefighters and equipment operators from Albany County Road & Bridge work to break down and fully extinguish the hay.โ€

Crews responded to the fire in the vegetation around mile marker 310 on I-80 around 4:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10.
