VIDEO: The Honolulu Fire Department battled a large wildfire in Kapolei. HFD responded to the fire at around 8:14 p.m. Thursday on Kapolei Parkway near the Kapolei Commons shopping center. As of about 2:30 a.m. on Friday, HFD said the fire is 95% contained and that about 20 acres have burned. Officials said the fire was initially reported as a rubbish fire. The fire could be seen from the H-1 Freeway as thick clouds and flames illuminated the night sky. HFD has three tankers and four fire engines on scene. HFD said no structures were threatened and no evacuations have been ordered. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
