Gill Gulch Fire in Montana more than triples in size

Crews observed increased activity on the Gill Gulch Fire Wednesday afternoon, prompting an aggressive aerial response seven miles south of Lincoln near Dalton Mountain. Multiple aircraftโ€”including large air tankers and helicoptersโ€”were deployed to drop water and fire retardant on the blaze. By late afternoon, updated mapping put the fire’s size at approximately 27 acres, more than triple the 8 acres reported on Tuesday. Fire managers continue to monitor conditions closely as suppression efforts continue.
