PHOTOS: A firefighter was rescued and airlifted to a hospital after they were injured while working on the Forsyth Fire in Pine Valley. The firefighter was injured in a fall and short-hauled off the mountain by a helicopter, according to Dammeron Valley Fire & Rescue officials. The injured first responder was taken to a landing zone where medical teams stabilized them and transported the firefighter to St. George Regional Hospital using another helicopter.
Officials did not provide details on the nature of their injuries or the cause of the fall, but said the firefighter “is expected to make a full recovery.” “Weโre proud of these teams battling heat, dry brush, and tough terrain during this active fire season,” Dammeron officials said. The Forsyth Fire has burned over 15,600 acres since it was first discovered nearly a month ago. The destructive wildfire destroyed more than a dozen homes in Pine Valley at its start and is currently 72% contained.
