Senator Gumataotao wants to prioritize buying fire trucks, ambulances using QC grants

Sen. Shawn Gumatatoao wants to update Guamโ€™s 60-year-old qualifying certificate law by also prioritizing the purchase of fire trucks, ambulances and other emergency response resources as community contributions as a condition for receiving QC tax incentives.

Gumataotao introduced Bill 225-38 which, if approved, modifies Guamโ€™s QC law so that public investments and community contributions, which are required as a condition for receiving certain tax incentives, are prioritized for firefighting and rescue services involving high-rise hotels.

These include aerial ladder fire trucks, ambulances, police vehicles and water rescue equipment. Gumataotao said this proposal came directly from a recent discussion he had with the Guam Fire Department and the Guam Visitors Bureau.
