Guam fire and police departments searching for missing hiker

The Guam Police Department and Guam Fire Department are actively searching for John โ€œJohnnyโ€ Samuel Reed after he was reported missing Wednesday. He was last seen at 10 a.m. Thursday and is believed to have gone on a hike north of the Apra View area in Sรฅnta Rita-Sumai, a location he frequently visits, according to a joint release from GPD and GFD. Reedโ€™s friends and family are also asking the Guam community for help locating him.

GFD and GPD said at about 5:12 p.m. Wednesday, the 911 Center received a missing person report. Police immediately launched an investigation and at 6:20 p.m., requested assistance from GFD. GFD rescue personnel and GPD officers are conducting a coordinated search near the trail area by Juan M. Cruz Street in Sรฅnta Rita-Sumai. The release stated that GFD deployed drones to aid the operation, and the U.S. Navy HSC-25 has been requested to provide aerial support.
