The 100-room mansion in Brooke County, which has been known as the Vancroft Mansion, Aspen Manor, Bubble Manor, and the Knights of St. George mansion, caught fire just after midnight Wednesday, Nov. 12.

The building was more than 54,000 square feet and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

First responders said the mansion was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived, and additional crews from several counties were called to help the Wellsburg Volunteer Fire Department and Franklin Community Volunteer Fire Department, including from Ohio County, WV, Washington County, PA, and Jefferson County, OH, the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department said in a release.

The Franklin Community Volunteer Fire Department said that there was no water in the fire hydrants in the area, and water had to be transported from the Ohio River and other fire hydrants.
