VIDEO: The Grant Town Volunteer Fire Department and EMS is holding the third annual Junior First Responder Academy. Twenty-nine kids are at the camp this year, getting a glimpse into what itโs like to be a first responder. The camp is open for students from seventh grade to seniors in high school. This is the third year Grant Town has hosted this camp. Grant Town VFD started it because they wanted to support youths who might be interested in emergency services, and they were concerned about the growing difficulty first responders throughout the country are having in recruiting people. This is the second year at the camp for high school senior Kaden Reesman who is interested in emergency services. He told 12 News that the camp is a lot of fun and that he has gotten to practice what he would do as a firefighter on the scene. This year the Marion County Sheriffโs Department joined the camp, leading students in activities to teach about law enforcement.
