Clarksburg City Council approves $622K for fire department upgrades

VIDEO: The Clarksburg City Council held its regular meeting Thursday evening, focusing on a proposed resolution to boost the cityโ€™s emergency response capabilities. A key topic of the meeting was the possibility of purchasing new equipment for the Clarksburg Fire Department, using funds from a federal congressional directed spending (CDS) grant. After a brief discussion by council members, they unanimously approved the use of the grant funds for approximately $622,000 to purchase equipment. โ€œIt allows us to update all of our equipment that we have that is near out of date, or out of date, and allows the modern technology to be brought to the firefighters in the city,โ€ Clarksburg Fire Chief James Green said. โ€œFirefighters enjoy the jobs they do, and we want to keep the citizens and the people of Harrison County safe.โ€ Some of the new equipment that the fire department is hoping to obtain with those CDS funds is new turnout gear and medical response vehicles, to name a few.
