A fire destroyed a home in rural Cowlitz County on Monday morning, according to Cowlitz County Fire District 2. At about 6:15 a.m., crews responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Painter Roth Road. Crews arrived to the home and found heavy fire coming from the back of the home, including the basement. Officials say crews were able to protect a detached garage, several cars, and a boat from catching fire but sadly the home was consumed by the fire and is considered a total loss. The homeowners were alerted by smoke detectors and were able to get out of the home safely. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
