Toonerville Fire in Mason County threatens 50 homes, evacuation orders issued

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A wildfire burning near Toonerville Road in Belfair prompted officials to issue evacuation orders for some residents in the Mason County community on Wednesday. The Toonerville Fire started around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday and has burned an estimated 70-100 acres as of Wednesday afternoon, according to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources. The fire is 0% contained as of 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, and the cause remains underdetermined. Firefighters have been working around the clock as the Toonerville Fire threatened around 50 homes Wednesday. Level 3 (GO NOW) evacuation orders were issued for โ€œToonerville Road Communitiesโ€ Wednesday afternoon. A Level 2 (Get Set) evacuation order was issued for NE Blacksmith Drive, NE Smith Forge Ln, NW Pond Ct., NE Forge Ct., NE Lakeway Dr and NE Lakeway Drive S. All evacuation orders remained in effect as of 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.
