Spokane Fire Department responds to two fires near Memorial Gardens

VIDEO: The Spokane Fire Department responded to two fires near the Spokane-Cheney Memorial Gardens Monday morning. According to the fire department, one fire broke out Monday morning at 5909 South Cheney Spokane Road. The fire department said the fire was burning in a wildland thick-treed area and trees were on fire in the area. The fire department said the fire itself was 150 feet by 150 feet, which is a little less than half a football field. The fire department also said DNR responded to help put out the fire. The fire department also said a second fire broke out one mile away from the original fire. Both fires are now under control and are out, according to the fire department. The Spokane Memorial Gardens said the fire did not damage any of the gravesites. The Spokane Fire Department said the Spokane Police Department is investigating the fires, as several police cars responded to the fire. The fire department said police are investigating the possibility that both fires were intentionally set.
