VIDEOS/PHOTOS: A fire that started in a shed spread to seven other buildings and displaced residents Thursday morning. The fire was reported around 1:30 a.m. It began along 20th Ave, several blocks from the Firehouse Min Park in Seattleโs Cherry Hill neighborhood. The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) said the first crews to arrive saw smoke and flames coming from a detached shed with flames spreading to adjacent homes. In addition to the detached shed, the seven other structures that caught fire included two sheds, four homes, and an apartment building.
Firefighters quickly evacuated the burning homes and put water on the flames. A second alarm was called to summon more resources. SFD said 12 fire engines, six ladder trucks, Rescue 1, and other support units responded for a total of 100 SFD personnel. According to SFD, Rescue 1 is dispatched to Seattle’s “most challenging responses that require special equipment and training.” The fires were under control by 3 a.m., when crews transitioned to removing burned debris and putting out hot spots. One firefighter was treated at the scene for minor injuries. No one else was hurt.
