Level 3: Go Now evacuations have been issued for the towns of Klickitat and Wahkiacus in a fire that sparked in Klickitat late Wednesday afternoon. The towns are still under evacuation orders as of 6:33 p.m. It is not known how the brush fire, called the Brewer Road Fire, started. It is estimated at 52 acres, according to WatchDuty. Officials said Level 2: Get Set evacuations are around 2 miles east and north of the Level 3 evacuation zone, according to the Klickitat County 911 Dispatch / Emergency Management. Washington State Parks has closed Klickitat Trail from Lyle to Wahkiacus. State Route 142 is closed in both directions between 4th Street from milepost 13 near 4th Street to milepost 0 near State Route 14/Lyle. Traffic updates can be found on the Washington Department of Transportation site. According to Klickitat Fire District No. 12, many volunteers and fire crews have been responding to the fire. Volunteers are also gathering in town to protect it from the fire, if needed. This is different from the Burdoin Fire, which is also in Klickitat County and has burned 10,993 acres and is 5% contained as of Wednesday. The Brewer fire is about 12 miles northwest of the Burdoin Fire.
