VIDEO: A fire that destroyed a home, a shop, and several cars is under investigation after firefighters reported it appeared to have started in four different locations before merging into one large blaze. Fire crews were dispatched late Monday night to an address off Badger Road, east of Dallas Road, just before 10:30 p.m., but by the time they arrived, it was too late to save the buildings and vehicles. Fortunately, two people who were home at the time managed to escape safely.
Deputy Chief Ryan Nicholls of Benton County Fire District 1 said, “Big fire last night, it causes a lot of people to want to come and see what’s going on and people coming into that area can be a hindrance to us. The sheriff’s office was evacuating the neighborhood and so the more people we get down in that neighborhood the more time that takes and the less efficient it is.” The family displaced by the fire is receiving assistance from the Red Cross. Fire crews continue to monitor the area for hotspots.
