This week marks National EMS Week, celebrated from May 18 to 24. This year’s theme, “We Care. For Everyone,” emphasizes the importance of preventing injuries and safeguarding both the community and emergency responders.
Fire departments across Eastern Washington thanked communities for their support. They praised those who follow safety tips such as slowing down and moving over for emergency vehicles, keeping addresses visible for faster response, using seatbelts and helmets and testing smoke alarms while storing medications safely.
The initiative also emphasizes the importance of responder safety through self-care, mental health support and adequate rest. “Caring for our EMS teams helps them keep caring for you,” stated the Benton County Fire District #4 in the Tri-Cities.
