Driver killed in car vs fire truck collision in Seattle

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Seattle police are investigating after a 29-year-old male driver was killed in a collision involving a Seattle fire truck early Saturday morning. Seattle police said officers responded to reports of a collision around 5 a.m. near North 128th Street and Aurora Avenue North. The truck was returning from a response. Police reportedly found a Chevrolet Malibu crashed into a Seattle Fire Department (SFD) ladder truck. Police said firefighters provided medical aid to the driver of the Malibu but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts.

The passenger, an 18-year-old male, also suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital. SFD reported no injuries to its personnel. โ€œWe are deeply saddened by the loss of life and serious injury of the two vehicle occupants involved in this morningโ€™s collision with a Seattle Fire ladder truck,” a fire department spokesperson said. “Their families and loved ones are in our thoughts during this difficult time. Seattle Police are investigating this traffic collision and will release more information as available.โ€ Seattle police determined the fire truck was making a right turn onto Aurora from 128th when the Malibu collided with it. Police said the Malibu was going southbound on Aurora at a “high rate of speed.”
